Offset is the one number that decides how a wheel sits, and it is almost impossible to picture from a spec sheet. Change width and offset and watch the wheel move in the fender, with poke past stock, inner clearance, and backspacing calculated as you go.
Compared to a common 8.5" +35 factory wheel. Suspension compresses under load, so clearance shrinks when you hit a bump at full lock. This sits well outside the fender. Expect a level or lift, liner trimming, and rock chips down the doors without mud flaps.

Offset is the distance in millimetres from the wheel's mounting face to its centerline. Positive offset puts the mounting face outboard of centre, which pulls the wheel inward under the fender. Negative offset puts it inboard, which pushes the wheel outward toward — and past — the fender. A wheel stamped ET35 has 35 mm of positive offset; one stamped ET−18 has 18 mm of negative offset.
Backspacing measures the same geometry from the other direction: the distance from the mounting face to the inner lip, in inches. Truck and off-road catalogues quote backspacing; car and European catalogues quote offset. They describe the same thing, and the tool shows backspacing so you can cross-reference either spec sheet.
Width is the trap. Adding an inch of width at the same offset does not push the wheel out an inch — it pushes it out half an inch and in half an inch, because the mounting face stays put and both lips move. That inner half-inch is what finds your strut, your upper control arm, or your brake caliper, and it is the reason people who only think about poke end up with rub they did not expect.

This is a two-dimensional front view of a generic fender. It does not know your vehicle's fender liner, brake caliper diameter, strut body, upper control arm geometry, or suspension travel. Every specification is measured static, and clearances shrink under load: hit a bump at full steering lock and a setup with a quarter inch of static clearance can touch.
That gap between arithmetic and reality is why we verify fitment against builds we have actually done before anything is ordered, and why the fitment guarantee exists — if a setup we spec'd rubs or will not clear, we swap it and cover the freight. Correct seat type (conical, ball, or flat with washers), correct thread pitch, and hub-centric rings on any wheel whose centre bore is larger than your hub. Rings are not optional cosmetics — without them the studs carry the vehicle's weight instead of the hub, which is how you get a vibration nobody can balance out. Every install here is torqued to spec and re-checked free at 50 miles.

Wheel questions
If a wheel and tire setup we specified rubs, will not clear the caliper, or does not fit the way we said it would, we swap it and cover the freight. That is why we verify against your exact trim before anything is ordered.
How far the mounting face sits from the wheel centreline, in millimetres. Lower or negative offset pushes the wheel out toward the fender. Higher offset tucks it under. Change width and both edges move, half the difference each way — which is why diameter alone tells you nothing.
Yes, proportionally to the diameter change. Stay within about 3% of stock and you will barely notice. Past that your speedometer under-reads, your transmission shifts late, and stability control works from bad data. We can recalibrate most modern vehicles.
Depends on tire diameter and offset. A 33-inch tire fits many trucks with a level and some trimming. 35s usually want a level plus trimming or a small lift. We tell you which before you buy, using builds we have actually finished on that platform.
The machine presses a loaded roller against the tire to simulate road pressure, which finds stiff spots a spin balance cannot see. It is the difference between a wheel that is balanced on a machine and one that is smooth at 80 mph. Included on every package.
We use touchless equipment, so no steel bar ever contacts the wheel lip. That matters enormously on polished, machined, and powder-coated finishes, where one careless mount is a permanent mark.
Every 5,000 to 7,000 miles, and it is free for the life of the tires you bought here. Staggered setups and directional tires limit the pattern, and we will tell you which applies to your car.
If you drive the canyons between December and March, yes. All-season compounds harden below about 45°F, so you lose grip on cold dry pavement, not just snow. A dedicated winter set on a second, cheaper wheel is the least expensive safety upgrade available.
